Did YOU see him in Brum?

MICHAEL Jackson's first-ever UK gig was at the Birmingham Odeon on November 11, 1972. It was the Jackson Five's debut world tour - and the young group was very excited to visit the city.

Get the most from you garden

Get romantic in your garden this summer with beautiful rattan furniture that is made for sharing. Perhaps you'd rather cuddle up under a bower of roses that. Or maybe enjoy dining by candle light on the patio. There is garden furniture to suit all taste and pockets, and robust enough to withstand the vagaries of British weather..

Paint the town red ... ... white and blue

America and England, two nations divided by a common language, but united by their love for the red, white and blue. The colours of our national flags are put to good use over the summer months as village fetes are decorated with bunting while over in America houses are decked out in the stars and stripes as patriotic party decorations for July 4.

Let's get this barbie started ...

Avoid spitting fat and charred sausages that are raw on the inside, with the Nordic BBQ. Fill the tower with charcoal and food cooks on the racks and, because you cook from both sides of the charcoal, you use half the amount of fuel. It all folds up into a handy carry bag, making it ideal for picnics and camping.

What's cookin'?

Classic Chicken Ciabatta Serves 2 This is a long-time Barbi favourite. Seemingly easy, but can be deceptively difficult to get perfect! A fruity, slightly exotic recipe created following a somewhat rambling tour around Tuscany - one too many Sangioveses and you've burnt the ciabatta! Ingredients 2 skinless chicken breasts 1 large ciabatta 15g sundried tomatoes 1 mango, coarsely chopped 25ml mango juice 10ml white wine vinegar 25ml extra virgin olive oil 1 lime, juiced 25g grated ginger 25g br...

PICK OF THE FLICKS 7 TO WATCH

SUNDAY: An Unfinished Life (BBC1, 10.20pm). Jennifer Lopez plays a widow and single mum on the run from her violent boyfriend Damian Lewis, forced to hide out with her father-in-law Robert Redford on his Wyoming ranch. Morgan Freeman plays his bedridden friend who's been mauled by a grizzly bear (which also makes an appearance) in a well-crafted, gentle drama. MONDAY: Wimbledon (ITV1, 10.35pm). The idea of a British player winning the world's greatest tennis tournament seemed ludicrous back i...

Ice Warriors ; 7 heaven treat of the week

YOU have to wonder what it is in Ben Fogle and James Cracknell's make-up that drives them to undertake such punishing trips. Do they enjoy being in pain, suffering extremes of temperature and contracting nasty diseases? Three years ago they rowed 3,000 miles across the Atlantic together in 49 days, encountering waves "bigger than houses" that capsized their 21ft boat.

COMEDY 7 TO WATCH

HORNE & CORDEN, BBC2, Friday, 10pm: Previously shown on BBC3 where it was the channel's most successful first comedy series, the duo's sketch show now reaches terrestrial TV. While far from an unqualified success - they should maybe stick to starring in dramas like Gavin & Stacey - there are some amusing moments, as they play characters ranging from a gay TV journalist to Superman and Spiderman. ALAN CARR: CHATTY MAN, Channel 4, Sunday, 10pm: Alan Carr is proving to be a rather good chat show...

SPORT 7 TO WATCH

Islands in the sun

CELEBRITY travelogues are the name of the game now. Ever since Michael Palin reinvented himself as our amiable guide to far-flung lands, famous names have been queuing up to journey to picturesque places, especially recently. In the last year or so, Paul Merton has been to India, Joanna Lumley to Lapland in search of Northern Lights, Billy Connolly to the Arctic, Martin Clunes has travelled around Britain's islands and Stephen Fry has driven around America.
