BRIGHTON gave themselves a great chance of holding on to their place in the Coca-Cola Championship as they secured a sixth away win of the season.

They climbed out of the relegation zone to 20th in League One, plunging free-falling Crewe into the bottom three. Brighton's victory came courtesy of Paul McLaren's headed own-goal in the 19th minute, while Crewe were crushed 5-1 at Ipswich.
