IT was a remark that you would have expected from a jockey who harboured dreams of a Gold Cup win. But when Paddy Brennan repeats that he would not swap Imperial Commander for any of his rivals, then it is more of a statement of fact than one based on bravado.

While all the hype last March was about Kauto Star and Denman and the so called decider in the Gold Cup, trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies was happy to let the spotlight shine anywhere but on his Cotswolds base.
