THE William Hill Blue Riband was won in fine style by Farloe Reason as expected on Tuesday night, although he missed his break before showing superb acceleration to force his way in front at the first bend, and hold the late charge of Commander Chief, who is crying out for a step up to a longer trip.

Commander Chief's trainer Mark Wallis confirmed afterwards that the Sussex Cup at Hove would be on his agenda over 515 metres, and I would suggest a wager ante post when the race comes around as he will take some stopping over that trip, although he heads for the Derby first.
