MORE than 150,000 people have taken a telephone hearing check as part of a campaign to raise awareness of the problem.

The Royal National Institute For The Deaf launched its 'Breaking the Sound Barrier' campaign to target the four million people in the UK who could benefit from wearing a hearing aid but are doing nothing about it.
