THE Midlands could soon be hit by FIVE times as many floods - costing residents as much as pounds 1.4 million a year in damage to homes and businesses. A shock government report, published by the Office of Science and Technology, gives a chilling picture of how global warming will eventually affect the lives of around 600,000 people living within the region's flood plains.
