IF you think of a Fairy Godmother, the last image to spring to mind would be that of Shadrach Dingle.

But that's what makes his star turn in the village panto - hanging above the stage in fluffy wings, tiara and dress - so amusing. Add Eric and Paddy as the ugly sisters and Viv as a perfect wicked stepmother, and Emmerdale is where most of the festive fun is to be had in soapland.
