THE last time I visited Thai Orchid its bosses were busily boasting about their endorsements from former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

At the time I was surprised that an Asian Prime Minister, based thousands of miles away, should take the trouble to bestow such awards on a Midland eatery.
