After 16 years at St Andrew's he moved to Wrexham for a short spell before becoming player-manager at Atherstone FC, his home club.
Schofield died in 2006, aged 75, and Auld remembers they key role he played in the 1963 cup success as he pulled off a series of fine saves to deny Villa the chance of winning the cup."Johnny was a brave keeper, one of the bravest ever.
