1 JOHNNY SCHOFIELD: The gallant goalkeeper played for Blues for 16 years racking up over 200 appearances.

Born in Atherstone, the stopper signed a professional contract with the club in 1950 as second choice behind Gil Merrick. He was known as one of the bravest keepers ever to play in royal blue after fracturing his skull whilst playing for City in 1960.

The Heroes of 63 ; Singing the Blues: Bertie Auld On the Glory Side of 1963

After 16 years at St Andrew's he moved to Wrexham for a short spell before becoming player-manager at Atherstone FC, his home club.

Schofield died in 2006, aged 75, and Auld remembers they key role he played in the 1963 cup success as he pulled off a series of fine saves to deny Villa the chance of winning the cup.
