RIFTS began to emerge in the Tory-Lib Dem government last night after a senior Conservative backbencher was overheard belittling the "Brokeback Coalition". Former frontbencher David Davis (left) is alleged to have repeated jibes by billionaire Tory benefactor Lord Ashcroft, who compared Prime Minister David Cameron and his Liberal Democrat deputy Nick Clegg to the lead characters in Ang Lee's Oscar- winning "gay cowboy" movie Brokeback Mountain.

Mr Davis was overheard by journalists as he voiced his frustrations that traditional Conservatives are being ignored by the new government in a London pub.
